ABOUT ME

I am a qualified personal development and career coach with over a decade of experience in the NHS, where I worked predominantly as a GP.
Whilst I loved working as a doctor for 12 years, I found the challenges of juggling a busy, stressful job with family and other commitments hard. There was little career coaching/support for doctors, despite the wealth of different ways of doing the job. I have now created a career that suits me and my family and I believe that coaching can help to create a sustainable career where we flourish and enjoy our work.
I have coached clients across a range of issues and challenges, including but not limited to, communication and leadership, health and wellbeing, career development and stress management. I also work as a yoga and meditation teacher, predominantly working with clients with chronic conditions, such as Parkinson’s disease.
I remain employed by the NHS working as a case manager for the Wessex professional support and well-being unit and also as part of their careers team. I am a qualified doctor and have worked in the NHS, predominantly as a GP, for over a decade. When I left to look after my family in 2012, I trained as a yoga teacher. Whilst working as a yoga therapist with clients with chronic disease, such as Parkinsons and MS, I realised how stress impacted both on their physical and mental health. I recognised how much I was using coaching whilst working in this role, empowering clients to manage their own health, so in 2019, I consolidated my knowledge and gained the ILM level 7 coaching qualification.
My business has evolved over time, and I now coach professionals, run workshops for clients and continue to teach yoga and mindfulness meditation to groups and individuals. I have retained strong links with the NHS, and recognise the stresses that working within the NHS can bring. I also see how rewarding and fulfilling it can be in the right circumstances and have seen that coaching can support individuals to make changes so that they flourish in their careers whilst maintaining good mental and physical health.
I work with the Primary Care Training Hub in Dorset, coaching medical and non-medical staff and mentoring the New to Practice GPs. I also work as both a case manager and Career Coach for the Wessex Professional Support and Wellbeing Unit and run career workshops with a colleague for trainees. I completed a PG certificate in Career Development in 2022 at Edinburgh Napier University and am also Dare to Lead trained with Brené Brown.
In 2022 I trained as a coaching supervisor, gaining my ILM 7 in coaching supervision. I run group and 1:1 supervision sessions for the Dorset Integrated Care Board. This, along with engaging with my own supervision and attending CPD events and adhering to the global code of ethics, keeps me up to date as a coach. I have recently completed a course in Non Violent Communication.
I continue to run a busy family home with two children. Sea swimming, walking and cooking are my favourite ways to relax.
HOW I WORK
When I worked as a doctor, my strategy was to search for the solution or a way to ‘fix’ people - my role as a Coach and Yoga Therapist has taught me to encourage a greater level of self-awareness to effect positive change.
In coaching sessions I give people the time and space to reflect on and recognise the wealth of skills they have beyond clinical medicine. In essence, it’s about encouraging greater self-awareness so my clients can make positive changes by setting goals that fit with what’s important to them personally and professionally.
Time and again, I see how this builds the confidence people need to make effective career decisions, flourish at work, and create a greater sense of wellbeing. A key part of this is working with my clients to create a work-life balance that helps them better manage stress, make more effective decisions, and communicate better at work and at home.
